As we approach the end of this year we look ahead with encouragement for the future of MEDRIX. It is a privilege to have supporters like you helping to "Continue the Journey, Changing Lives Forever". With that in mind let me share with you two recent MEDRIX events that stood out to me while I was in Vietnam in the end of October.
The first event was meeting with a 4-year-old girl named Tran Thi Hong who has a heart defect. I met with her and her mother while I was in Hue, Vietnam. She lives with her family in the rural mountainous area of Central Vietnam. The hospital doctors asked if MEDRIX could help by supporting her heart surgery as her parents have no ability to afford the surgery. While I was still in Hue, Hong had surgery. She is now recovering and her life is forever changed for the better. Thank you generous MEDRIX donors who provided funds for her heart surgery.
The second event was visiting Phu Loc district about 40 miles from Hue to survey schools that are potential sites for the MEDRIX UV Water Treatment System. I met with the leaders of three communes and visited 10 small schools. I learned a lot about the various ways the schools are meeting or attempting to meet their students' need for safe drinking water. This knowledge will enable MEDRIX to present a realistic proposal to our partners to improve the students' situation as we have committed to install 20 more systems by the end of the year. Thank you again to MEDRIX donors who make this work possible.
At MEDRIX, we continue to pay attention to the economic challenges and the challenging needs of many children and their families in Vietnam. We are using the resources given to us and being creative in our approaches to make the most impact in the communities we serve. We thank everyone who has walked beside us this year and contributed generously to the work of MEDRIX, changing lives in Southeast Asia.
Only with your help can we reach the people no one else is reaching.
Thank You!
