MEDRIX
launched the first refurbishment of a clinic/health station
in 2002. Provincial Leaders, primarily from Central Vietnam
have requested assistance from MEDRIX to refurbish a variety
of village health stations. Each project must be approved
by the local leadership and the sponsoring health agency of
the local province.
Refurbishment must include the primary elements of hygiene,
such as piped water or a well system. The well systems
include:
- a filter
- storage
units
- And
a means to treat the water.
In addition
to upgraded water systems, electrical and plumbing upgrades
must be made in each treatment and delivery room. Other improvements
made in the refurbishment of a health station include latrines
with a shower, rewiring, fans, cement pads and yards, fences,
windows, and new paint. Each health station must meet required
specifications, and refurbishments are only done as MEDRIX
has funds available. Then local contractors bid on the projects
sponsored by MEDRIX.
